ASSESSMENT
A school-based assessment is delivered at the end of each term in all subject areas. Performance on this test helps with determining the outcome measures on the student report cards. In addition, RASA delivers the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) tool to determine how children have progressed over the year. This computerized adaptive assessment, aligned to each state’s measurement scales and content standards, covers mathematics, reading, language use, and science. The assessment tool uses a stable scale that accurately measures what a child knows and needs to learn, independent of their grade level or age. MAP is delivered twice per year; on entrance to RASA for placement purpose in the ability-leveled subjects, and at the end of each year. For more information on MAP visit www.nwea.org/assessments
RASA students 2007-08 scores demonstrate that every student performed above the national mean in every subject, including language arts, mathematics, and science as a group. Students in grades 3, 4, and 7 performed in the academically gifted range across all subjects.See the image below.
