The RASA curriculum is level specific in the morning and age specific in the afternoon. Level specific refers to the placement of students in mathematics and language arts according to their ability and not chronological age. Level specific placement is based on quarterly testing. Therefore, a kindergartner could be taking 1st grade math and 2nd grade language arts. However, we recognize he/she is still just 5, so the rest of the day is spent with age matched peers.
Science and art are taught on alternate days (blue and gold days); this allows these courses to have longer time blocks than if they were taught daily.
In keeping with RASA's international focus, one European and one Asian langage will be taught to all children, on alternating days. Spanish and Mandarin will be RASAs two language offerings for the 2008-2009 academic year. There is no Spanish during this academic year.
